The State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Cristina Pereteatcu, participated in the Golden Juggernaut InnoTech Forum 2024, a regional event dedicated to innovation, technology transfer and business development. The forum brought together experts and leaders in the technological field to discuss innovative solutions that can respond to modern challenges.

The event highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public sector, the private sector and academia to develop innovative solutions that will respond to the global challenges of the future.

During a panel titled "Innovations and Reality: Solutions for Modern Challenges", Cristina Pereteatcu gave a speech on the impact of modern technologies, digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) on the energy sector, but also on society.

"Technological innovations, such as artificial intelligence and digitalization, play a crucial role in transforming the way we address the economic and social challenges of the modern world. Artificial intelligence has enormous potential to stimulate economic growth by automating processes, increasing productivity and creating new products and services. It can also solve certain social challenges, such as access to personalized education and improving healthcare, especially in remote areas. In the energy field, digitalization is essential for the integration of renewable sources and improving the efficiency of electricity networks”, Cristina Pereteatcu emphasized in her speech.

Cristina Pereteatcu also spoke about the opportunities in the field of innovations that are directly related to the consolidation of the energy sector: the promotion of Sandboxes.

Sandboxes represent an innovative framework for energy companies, startups and researchers, offering them the opportunity to experiment and develop innovative solutions. This regulatory environment allows the testing of new methods of energy production and distribution, thus creating a culture of innovation. In this context, the recently voted draft law will revolutionize the energy sector in the Republic of Moldova, stimulating a fair and sustainable energy transition, and our country can become a hub for innovation in this field and attract companies that will develop the energy solutions of the future, concluded Cristina Pereteatcu.

On July 31, 2024, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova voted in the second reading the legislative initiative for the implementation of Sandboxes. The law responds to the need to stimulate innovation in the energy sector to support the objectives of reducing carbon emissions and the transition to more sustainable energy sources. Recently, the mechanism for implementing innovations in the energy sector was proposed for public consultations.

Golden Juggernaut InnoTech Forum 2024 was organized by the National Agency for Research and Development in collaboration with the Association for Supporting Innovations and Sustainable Development "Impuls", under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova.
