The renewable energy plants of the “Lumina Noastră” consortium, one of the winners of the first renewable energy tender, were inspected by an interinstitutional commission comprising representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) and S.A. “Moldelectrica”.
The commission carried out on-site inspections to verify the compliance of the renewable energy plants owned by the “Lumina Noastră” consortium. The inspections covered three power plants that have already been commissioned and were included in the investor’s bid submitted as part of the tender: two plants located in Heciul Nou, with installed capacities of 4.8 MW and 6 MW, respectively, and a plant located in Rădoaia, Sîngerei district, with an installed capacity of 7.5 MW.
The tender for large eligible producers allowed both investors developing new projects and investors owning newly built and commissioned power plants to participate. In the case of existing plants, compliance verification is a step towards granting the state support provided under the support scheme.
“The verification process ensures that all beneficiary projects meet the same technical standards and contributes to the safe and efficient integration of renewable energy into the National Power System. It is a mechanism that provides investors with predictability and ensures the transparent use of support schemes,” representatives of the Ministry of Energy said.
The first tender organized by the Ministry of Energy to grant large eligible producer status covered a total capacity of 165 MW, including 105 MW of wind power and 60 MW of solar photovoltaic power. Six investors were selected under the procedure and will benefit from a guaranteed fixed price for the electricity supplied for a period of 15 years.
The results of the tender confirmed strong investor interest in the Republic of Moldova’s energy market and enabled competitive prices to be secured for renewable energy.
The second tender for large eligible producers is currently underway and covers the development of 170 MW of wind power capacity and at least 44 MWh of battery energy storage capacity. The procedure has attracted significant investor interest, with 16 bids submitted for projects totaling more than 423 MW of wind power capacity and more than 305 MWh of energy storage. The integration of energy storage systems will increase the flexibility of the National Power System and enable more efficient use of the renewable energy produced.
The Republic of Moldova is experiencing the fastest development of its renewable energy sector in the country’s history. While installed renewable energy capacity stood at approximately 76 MW in 2020, it exceeded 1,000 MW in April 2026. The rapid growth in renewable energy investment is contributing to strengthening energy security, reducing dependence on imports and integrating the Republic of Moldova into the European energy market, objectives supported by the reforms and support mechanisms promoted by the Ministry of Energy.
