Moldova–EU Energy Dialogue: Carolina Novac and Sven Mikser Discussed Energy Security and Green Transition

State Secretary Carolina Novac held a meeting with Mr. Sven Mikser, Member of the European Parliament and rapporteur for the Republic of Moldova within the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), who was on a working visit to our country from March 30 to April 2, 2026.

 

The discussions focused on developments in the Republic of Moldova’s energy sector, with an emphasis on strengthening energy security, diversifying supply sources, and accelerating the transition to renewable energy. The need to modernize energy infrastructure and increase energy efficiency at the national level was also addressed.

 

The parties reviewed ongoing projects and opportunities to expand cooperation with the European Union in the energy field, including through the implementation of initiatives aimed at reducing dependence on external energy resources and increasing the resilience of the energy system.

 

During the meeting, State Secretary Carolina Novac stated: “We appreciate the constant support of our European partners and their openness to deeper cooperation. We are strengthening and expanding our collaboration in the energy sector to accelerate the transition to a modern, efficient, and sustainable system, for the benefit of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.”

 

At the same time, the officials highlighted the importance of aligning with European energy standards and policies, as well as continuing technical and institutional dialogue in order to implement structural reforms in the sector.
