The Ministry of Energy organized on December 10 a study visit for a group of 8 researchers, political experts, civil society representatives and journalists from Germany. The visit was organized in collaboration with the Institute for European Policy and Reforms (IPRE), the Berlin Institute for European Policy and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS). During the visit, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Constantin Borosan, gave a presentation and answered their questions.

State Secretary, Constantin Borosan, noted that the visit is an important step in deepening cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Germany in the field of energy and European policies.

“The main purpose of the visit was to provide an in-depth understanding of the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in the European integration process and to stimulate dialogue on the most important topics on the energy and geopolitical agenda. The participants had the opportunity to explore the significant progress made by the Republic of Moldova in the energy sector, as well as the challenges and opportunities arising from the current geopolitical changes,” Borosan noted.

During the meetings, key topics were addressed, including progress in diversifying energy sources and aligning with European Union standards, the implementation of the new legislation on natural gas stocks, in accordance with the European directive, as well as the report on the European Union enlargement package, as the energy sector of the Republic of Moldova is at the forefront of progress compared to other chapters of the community acquis.

The participants discussed possible scenarios that could arise from January 1, 2025, given the uncertainties regarding gas supplies from the Russian Federation. Constantin Borosan noted that the winter plan provides for measures to cover all possible scenarios for natural gas and electricity supply.
