This week, Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu is participating in the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Advisory Council of the Southern Gas Corridor, held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.

On the sidelines of the event, on March 2, 2026, Minister Dorin Junghietu held a bilateral meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Parviz Shahbazov. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the natural gas sector, regional demand trends, and opportunities for collaboration in the context of the ongoing liberalization of the gas market in the Republic of Moldova.

In the context of the recalibration of European gas markets, both sides highlighted the essential role of scalable infrastructure, regulatory coordination, and regional partnerships in ensuring long-term supply security.

Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu emphasized the importance of pragmatic policies that support the development of new projects in the gas sector, alongside advancing the energy transition. In this regard, Minister Junghietu invited Azerbaijani companies to participate in the new tender for the construction of large 170 MW wind farms, including the integration of energy storage systems (BESS), as part of efforts to increase the flexibility and resilience of the national energy system.
