The progress on the transposition of EU energy legislation and integration into the EU energy market were discussed today by the leadership of the Ministry of Energy with 22 diplomats from the European External Action Service, a delegation led by Special Envoy Dirk Schübel.

The Moldovan officials from the EU Member States' foreign ministries discussed how the Republic of Moldova is preparing for the coming winter in terms of security of energy supply, what it is doing to boost and integrate as much renewable energy as possible into the grid, as well as developments in reducing carbon emissions and the transition to green energy.

Energy Minister Victor Parlicov replied that even assuming that the coming winter will be difficult, the country is in a much better position after essential transformations in the energy sector and energy companies, which makes the Republic less blackmailable.

"Thanks to huge support from outside, not only financial, but also unprecedented political openness at all levels, the situation has changed cardinally. Now it is important for us that the citizens feel the benefits of getting closer to the EU, through energy efficiency, through investments in energy, in order to obtain competitive prices, in electrification of the transport sector, which must be much cleaner and more efficient," said Victor Parlicov.
