The EcoVoucher Programme is launching a new round funded by the state budget, providing support to 8,120 families to purchase new energy-efficient household appliances between 13 October and 1 November 2026.
The current round has a total budget of approximately 57 million lei and is financed entirely from the state budget.
The programme enables vulnerable households to reduce electricity consumption and related expenses by replacing old household appliances with new, energy-efficient models. The initiative is part of the Government’s efforts to improve energy efficiency in the residential sector and promote more responsible and sustainable energy consumption.
“Energy efficiency measures applied to equipment and appliances used daily in homes can generate energy savings of up to 33 GWh per year and reduce emissions by nearly 17,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent annually nationwide. At the household level, these figures translate into lower energy consumption and smaller bills,” said Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu.
“The EcoVoucher Programme is already delivering tangible and measurable results. Families are reducing their energy consumption and can use the money they save for other household needs. Since the programme was launched, we have improved the process of awarding and redeeming vouchers so that beneficiaries can access support simply and quickly. Given the challenges facing the energy sector, every measure that helps households consume less energy and manage their expenses more effectively contributes to strengthening their resilience,” said Ion Muntean, Director of the National Centre for Sustainable Energy (CNED).
Each voucher has a nominal value of 7,000 lei and can cover up to 70% of the appliance’s purchase price, including VAT. The beneficiary pays the remaining amount.
Eligible beneficiaries can purchase refrigerators, including models with integrated freezers in energy classes A, B, C, and D, as well as Class A washing machines. All appliances purchased through the programme meet energy efficiency criteria and European Conformity (CE) standards.
Vouchers are allocated as a priority to families with the largest numbers of minor children and households in which at least two people aged over 63 live. In addition, 10% of the total number of available vouchers are reserved for people with severe disabilities.
Beneficiaries are notified by SMS or email when vouchers become available. The vouchers can be accessed through the compensatii.gov.md platform. To redeem a voucher, beneficiaries must hand over a used appliance of the same type for recycling.
Since the programme was launched, 43,366 families have benefited from EcoVoucher support, purchasing 20,637 refrigerators and 22,692 washing machines. According to CNED data, the more than 43,000 appliances installed through the programme generate annual savings of approximately 8.85 million kWh, equivalent to around 32.7 million lei. This corresponds to an estimated reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of approximately 4,427 tonnes per year.

The EcoVoucher Programme was developed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with financial support from the European Union and is implemented by the National Centre for Sustainable Energy in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy. The current round is financed from the state budget.
