Construction works at the Vulcănești Substation have been completed, marking an important milestone in the development of the Vulcănești–Chișinău Overhead Power Line, one of the largest energy infrastructure projects in the Republic of Moldova.

During the final stages, specialists from the contractor, the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), the consultant and S.A. “Moldelectrica” carried out the necessary technical tests. The results confirmed that the installations are ready for energization and connection to the power system. All three phases of the substation have also been connected, while final technical adjustments are currently being carried out before the facility is commissioned.

The completion of the construction works and the successful tests carried out allow the project to move on to the energization stage of the Vulcănești Substation and the associated infrastructure. Acceptance procedures are expected to be carried out in the immediate period ahead.

The Vulcănești and Chișinău substations are key facilities for the commissioning of the Vulcănești–Chișinău Energy Independence Line.

Meanwhile, works at the Chișinău Substation are ongoing, with three work teams currently deployed on site. Works on the outdoor container have been completed, while the installation of protection cabinets is continuing. The teams responsible are preparing the necessary connections to integrate the substation into the national power system.

The Vulcănești–Chișinău Overhead Power Line is approximately 157 kilometres long and will connect the 400 kV Vulcănești Substation with the 330 kV Chișinău Substation. The project is being implemented under the Electricity System Development Project, financed by the World Bank Group.
