Sustainable Energy Investment Hub Launched

The Sustainable Energy Investment Hub - an innovative platform dedicated to partners in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector - has been launched in the Republic of Moldova. The Hub aims to unify all stakeholders in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy in order to facilitate collaboration and promote sustainable solutions. The initiative is implemented with the support of the USAID Moldova Energy Security Project (MESA).
At the hub’s founding meeting, which took place on November 1, 2024, the Hub’s founding members, representing organizations from all relevant sectors, discussed the major challenges of the sector and signed the agreement to establish the hub.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Carolina Novac, welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that the hub will play a key role in mobilizing resources and implementing energy projects.
“I am very pleased with the launch of the Sustainable Energy Investment Hub, which emphasizes the radical transformation of the energy sector, namely by doubling the capacities of renewable energy sources, but also by starting several energy efficiency projects for public institutions and in the residential sector. Regardless of the mandatory energy and climate targets that our country has assumed, the implementation of these projects is only possible through the close partnership of financial institutions with private sector developers and direct beneficiaries. This Hub represents an ideal platform through which we can attract the necessary investments, ensure a close and transparent dialogue between experts, identify solutions together and make the most of the opportunities of the energy transition,” said Carolina Novac, Carolina Novac.
“The launch of the hub represents an important step in strengthening the voice of the private sector, which plays a crucial role in the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency. “It is essential to join forces to discuss issues, create connections, and explore opportunities for collaboration,” said Marina Vardanyan, energy expert, USAID Moldova representative.
MESA Project Director Armen Arzumanyan highlighted that the potential of the energy efficiency and renewable energy sector in Moldova exceeds $2 billion and that progress in this area depends on close collaboration between the public and private sectors. “We want this platform to become an open space for dialogue, where all stakeholders can contribute to the development of the sector and the improvement of the legislative framework,” emphasized Armen Arzumanyan.
The hub will provide real support for simplifying bureaucratic procedures, facilitating rapid access to resources and necessary permits, while promoting transparency and a fair competitive environment. The hub will also centralize legislative information, provide clear guidelines for project implementation, and support professional development through training programs.
An essential component of the hub’s activity will be an online platform, which will centralize all relevant information and facilitate interactions between beneficiaries, investors and developers. This will include sector reports, educational materials and funding opportunities, connecting investors with those interested in implementing sustainable projects in the RES and EE sectors.
Hub members will benefit from access to up-to-date information on the renewable energy and energy efficiency market, including relevant legislation, tariffs, prices and examples of successful projects. The Sustainable Energy Investment Hub will also contribute to the development of strategies and facilitate access to financing for green infrastructure projects, ensuring an efficient communication network between investors, authorities and developers.
