Secretary of State Constantin Borosan inspected the progress of construction works at the Chisinau 400/330 kV Power Station and requested the works to be expedited

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Constantin Borosan, visited the 400/330 kV Chisinau Power Station on Monday, where the Vulcănești-Chisinau high-voltage power line will be connected, to inspect the progress of the works and request their acceleration. Constantin Borosan was accompanied by representatives of "Moldelectrica", the Energy Projects Implementation Unit UCIPE, as well as the construction companies contracted for the modernization of the station, "Siemens Energy" and "Electromontaj".

At the 330 kV Chisinau Power Station, four 400/330/35 kV autotransformers, a new 330 kV cell, connected to the new 400/330/35 kV autotransformers and the existing 330 kV installation are to be built, as well as a new 400 kV cell for the Vulcănești-Chisinau OHL.

Constantin Borosan emphasized the importance of this project for the country and discussed the progress of the works and the challenges related to the implementation of the project, especially those of a technical nature, such as the acquisition of the necessary equipment and the streamlining of internal processes.

“The companies involved in the implementation of the works will intensify communication between the key entities of the project, and internal coordination procedures will be advanced to ensure constant progress. The Ministry of Energy remains committed to the efficient implementation of the PDSE, thus contributing to the consolidation of the power infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova,” said Constantin Borosan.

According to the director of UCIPE, Ruslan Surugiu, the equipment necessary for the modernization of the Chisinau Power Station has been delivered in a proportion of approximately 75%. Therefore, it is expected that all necessary works will be expedited and the installation of the equipment provided in accordance with the established terms.

The modernization of the Chisinau 400/330 kV Substation is part of a large-scale project to develop the energy sector in the Republic of Moldova. The works, together with the expansion of the Vulcănești Power Station, will allow for the strengthening of the electrical connection with Romania and the connection of the Isaccea-Vulcănești-Chișinău 400 kV overhead power line to the energy infrastructure in the central area of the country, including in the Chișinău municipality, bypassing the Moldovan Thermal Power Plant, MGRES, located in the Transnistrian region.

The project is financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE).
