Minister Victor Parlicov signed two agreements aimed at accessing preferential loans and grants for energy efficiency and supplementing strategic gas stocks

Energy Minister Victor Parlicov signed a memorandum of understanding with the French Development Agency (AFD) and the German Development Bank KfW aimed at expanding cooperation in the field of energy efficiency in public buildings on the sidelines of the fourth meeting of the Moldova Support Platform, organized today in Chisinau. The signatories have thus committed to invest €68.7 million, of which €38.7 million is a grant provided by the German Government under an agreement signed with the Cabinet of Ministers in Chisinau. 30 million is a long-term concessional loan from the French Government. A quarter of the total amount will be used for the thermal rehabilitation of social buildings (hospitals, schools and others).
The government will also contribute to improving the energy efficiency of public buildings. Project implementation will start in 2024.
Another document signed by Energy Minister Victor Parlicov refers to an addendum to the agreement to the 300 million euro loan agreement offered in two tranches by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development under the "Security of Natural Gas Supply" project, signed on June 23, 2021.
The amendment aims to include in the project a grant component offered by the Norwegian Government of 400 million Norwegian kroner (about 34 million euro), this distribution through the EBRD being the quickest solution identified for the Republic of Moldova to benefit from the grant made available for the procurement and storage of natural gas needed in the cold season.
The grant component is conditional on access to an additional tranche of €165 million from the EBRD.
Another memorandum signed today between the European Investment Bank and the Government of the Republic of Moldova includes institutional strengthening in the energy sector as well as stimulating investments in the transport, energy, environment and SME sectors.
The Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova was launched in April 2022 at the initiative of Romania, Germany and France. Previous meetings, held in Berlin, Paris and Bucharest, have helped our country mobilize international financial support to offset the costs of the bill, help farmers and implement infrastructure projects.
