The Ministry of Energy announces the endorsement of the draft on the establishment of the Preliminary Research Commission for the assessment of the public utility of national interest of the projects for the development of the natural gas transmission network in the Republic of Moldova, elaborated in accordance with the provisions of Art. (2) of the Law on expropriation for reasons of public utility and the Regulation on the procedure of preliminary research for declaring the object of expropriation to be of public utility.

It should be noted that the expansion of gas pipelines is aimed at supporting economic growth and improving social welfare and is provided for in the Energy Strategy of the Republic of Moldova until 2030.

"The natural gas transportation infrastructure in the region is undergoing a process of diversification of transit routes and their reprioritization. This development will be constantly assessed and forecast in order to maintain and strengthen the current alliances and to ensure the necessary transport infrastructure to capitalize on these alliances, regardless of the changes that will take place, as well as to influence within reasonable limits the reprioritizations mentioned", the Informative Note to the draft Government Decision states.

Thus, after being constituted by Government Decision, the Preliminary Research Commission will give its opinion on the declaration of public utility of national interest of the following development projects:

1. Design and construction of the natural gas transportation network in the direction Prut River - SMG Ungheni - PMG Todirești;

2. Design and construction of natural gas transportation network on the North-East - South-East direction of mun. Chisinau (Chisinau Ring Road);

3. Construction of the main pipeline for the connection of the Cimișlia-Hâncești branch pipeline to the main pipeline, planned for the ring-ringing of mun. Chisinau;

4. Design and construction of the natural gas transportation network in the Ungheni - Balti - Drochia direction, with the connection to the suction pipeline of SC Drochia located on the Ananiev-Cernăuți-Bogorodiceni natural gas transportation network.

The Commission will operate in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation and will present the results of the preliminary investigation within 30 days after the voting session.
