The Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, participated in the launch event of the Patronage for sustainable development Romania - Republic of Moldova, which took place on Tuesday in Chisinau and brought together important actors from both countries to identify concrete ways of economic cooperation and regional development.

On this occasion, the Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, emphasized that the role of the business environment is to generate opportunities that will not only contribute to the economic growth of the entire region, but will also make the people of the Republic of Moldova understand that the country's integration into the European space it will benefit everyone.

"For many years, the Republic of Moldova was absent from the list of priorities of those who sought to bring investments. Only recently, the crises we went through, the way we managed them, propelled us to another level when we are already on the radar of investors. And I am sure that very soon we will be able to demonstrate that the integration into the European space for the Republic of Moldova is an irreversible process that will bring much more investments, well-being and confidence that our country can provide new possibilities for our citizens, but it is important to understand that all this is done only with the support of business", said Victor Parlicov at the opening of the event.

The minister reiterated that thanks to cooperation with Romania and the support of development partners, unprecedented changes have been made in the energy sector of the Republic of Moldova in the last three years, and investors can now be sure that they will have access to energy, in non-discriminatory conditions , which do not depend on political will or external interference.

"I would like to mention only one key word, which essentially changed everything about the energy security of this country, and this word is "synchronization". Three weeks after the start of Russia's war against Ukraine, we managed to join the European electricity system, a technical fact that is unlikely to have been noticed by consumers, but for us as a country this synchronization ensured the minimum level of security despite the fact that we do not control a part of the critical infrastructure, which is on the left of the Dniester. We have only now reached this minimum level of energy security, which we continue to strengthen, including through investments. In recent years, more has been invested than in all 30, in the near future we will have unprecedented investments, including in the energy sector, thus we will accelerate economic development", said the minister.

Victor Parlicov also referred to the fact that the entire region is facing an informational war, and the best remedy against propaganda would be the development of an environment favorable to cooperation which, as a result, would generate new new jobs and attractive opportunities for young people.

The launch of the Patronage for sustainable development Romania - Republic of Moldova was announced during the conference with the generic Cross-Border Economic Cooperation Romania - Republic of Moldova: "Consolidation of Partnerships for Sustainable Development", which brought together in Chisinau representatives of public institutions from Romania, members of the chambers of trade, economic experts from both banks of the Prut, but also well-known entrepreneurs.

On the discussion agenda was also the topic of focusing investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy for a sustainable future. The participants had the opportunity to exchange opinions and present initiatives and projects in this field, which can contribute to economic development and environmental protection.
