The Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday approved the transfer of a list of assets from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and the Technical University of Moldova to the management of S.A. “Termoelectrica”.

The transfer includes the heating networks of five university dormitories managed by the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, as well as various components of the thermal infrastructure. In the case of the Technical University of Moldova, the building of the thermal power plant and other auxiliary assets, including electric pumps, meters, exhaust pipes and boilers, are being transferred.

This project will contribute to substantial savings in the budgets of the two higher education institutions. Annually, the Technical University of Moldova spends approximately 1 million lei on the maintenance of the district heating system, and the thermal systems of the ASEM dormitories require investments of approximately 700 thousand lei for modernization and efficiency.

Thus, the logic of expanding the centralized heating system (SACET), which is considered the most efficient, is followed, and therefore the management of energy resources is improved and energy consumption is made more efficient.

In 2024, the building complex of the "Emilian Cotaga" Clinic and the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research, as well as two new residential blocks in Chisinau, were also reconnected to SACET.

Based on a previous Government decision, promoted by the Ministry of Energy, the complex of buildings of the Presidency, Parliament and 65 other public institutions were reconnected to the Centralized Heating System, which leads to primary energy savings (natural gas) from the combined production, in cogeneration mode, of thermal and electrical energy worth 4.7 million m3/year, the production and delivery of an additional quantity of electrical energy in the amount of 27.8 million kWh/year and thermal energy in the amount of 66.9 thousand Gcal/year.
