Energy Minister Victor Parlicov had a meeting on Monday with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel, former European Commissioner, on the sidelines of the trilateral meeting Greece, Bulgaria, Romania at the level of prime ministers, which the Moldovan energy minister was invited to attend.
Victor Parlicov thanked for Bulgaria's support for Moldova's European path and welcomed the intensification of high-level contacts and bilateral cooperation, especially in the energy sector. The parties also noted the need to reinvigorate the work of the Moldovan-Bulgarian Joint Intergovernmental Commission and to boost contacts at the level of businessmen. In this regard, it was agreed to organize a Moldovan-Bulgarian business forum in 2024. At the same time, the parties agreed on the need for a more active involvement of Bulgaria in the development of the southern region of Moldova, including the Taraclia district, so that Bulgaria, as a member of the European Union, becomes an important reference point for the inhabitants of the region.
As a first step in this direction, Minister Victor Parlicov agreed with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Maria Gabriel on the signing of a development cooperation agreement between the two countries.
The agreement will prioritize development cooperation in four areas, sustainable energy and climate; infrastructure development and access to public services; cooperation in education and culture; and media cooperation.
