March 31 deadline for submission of bids in the auction for the construction of large wind farms
- 300 reads
The deadline for submitting bids in the auction for the construction of wind power plants with a total capacity of 170 MW, as well as the requirement to install 44 MWh of energy storage systems, expires on Tuesday, March 31. Interested investors therefore have one more day to participate in the new auction.
The meeting of the Auction Commission for opening applications and assessing the eligibility of investors is scheduled for April 2 at 13:00 (Note: the meeting has been rescheduled from 09:00 to 13:00). The Commission has until June to analyse and evaluate the files and determine the winners of the auction, with the Government Decision appointing the winners expected to be issued by September.
It is worth noting that this auction is a first for the Republic of Moldova, due to the inclusion of an energy storage component, which will contribute to increasing the flexibility and reliability of the national energy system, as well as optimizing the electricity generation curve.
The award criterion is the lowest price, compared to the price ceiling of 1.44 Moldovan lei/kWh, within the cumulative capacity limit of 170 MW. The selected projects will be implemented under a “fixed price / variable premium” support scheme.
The implementation of this auction will increase the share of renewable energy by 5.8%, supporting the national target of 30% renewable energy by 2030. Together with the first auction of 165 MW, wind energy will cover approximately 11.4% of this target.
The new investments are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 1.4 million tons of CO₂, equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately 310,000 cars.
