Greece, Bulgaria and Romania reaffirm support for Moldova's energy security

Energy Minister Victor Parlicov participated on Monday in the trilateral meeting at the level of Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania in Varna, Bulgaria, the main topics of which were the strengthening of regional security and interconnection, to which the Republic of Moldova is also connected.
In the final declaration of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their determination to support the European membership perspective of the Western Balkans, as well as Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia, based on the fulfillment of the EU accession criteria and the "own merits" of the applicants in carrying out the necessary reforms. Also taking into account the security challenges faced by the Republic of Moldova and following the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the three countries decided to continue cooperation in order to provide adequate multidimensional support to our country.
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov reaffirmed Moldova's determination to advance in the process of European integration, citing as an example the progress made in the energy sector in the last two years. From a country 100% dependent on a single source of natural gas, the Republic of Moldova has diversified its sources of supply and has become a security supplier in the region, having piloted the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector and the vertical gas corridor from Greece to underground gas deposits in Ukraine. Chisinau is currently facilitating access for South-East European countries to gas deposits in Ukraine.
