Germany to support the sustainable transition of the thermal energy sector in the Republic of Moldova

October 23, 2024, Stuttgart – The priority directions in the implementation process of the Action Plan related to the Institutional Partnership in the field of sustainable heating were discussed today, during the meeting of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Constantin Borosan, with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Protection and Energy of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Dr. Andre Baumann. The partnership, recently signed in Chisinau in the presence of the Prime Minister of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, represents a significant commitment in the transition of the Republic of Moldova to a green economy.
The discussions focused on joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the Moldovan-German partnership in order to modernize the thermal energy sector in our country. The plan provides for the transfer of good administrative practices and cooperation between specialists from the National Center for Sustainable Energy and those from the KEA agency, with the aim of providing our country with the necessary expertise in the transition process towards sustainable energy solutions.
Constantin Borosan stressed the importance of this partnership in the context of adapting national legislation and practices to the requirements of the European Union, as well as in achieving the energy autonomy objectives of the Republic of Moldova. During the meeting, details were also discussed regarding the next stages of the project implementation, including the organization of expert missions, training sessions and public consultation activities.
Dr. Andre Baumann highlighted the commitment of the German side to support the Republic of Moldova in the process of modernizing the thermal energy sector.
Germany constantly supports our country's efforts to transition to a green economy. Through the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), 5 million euros will be invested in energy efficiency projects over the next three years.
