The future of transportation is electric, and the Republic of Moldova is from this year producing electric buses, after the Informbusiness company from Chisinau obtained an international registration number - VIN code, which is valid for all potential manufacturers.
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov today attended the launch of the first electric bus assembled in Chisinau, which is currently being tested, but entrepreneurs hope to mass produce it in a few months. Only the body is imported, the rest of the equipment is produced locally. The bus can travel up to 70 km autonomously, after which it can be recharged from the trolleybus network or from special stations.
Informbusiness is the company behind the autonomous trolleybus project for the suburbs, but it also exports electrical equipment - the most important for these vehicles - for buses, trolleybuses, trams, trains, and has designed and will make its first export in September of batteries for renewable energy producers.
"It's time for the electric bus to travel on national roads, not just to the suburbs. We have projects being tested with ranges of up to 450 km, which can reach 130 km per hour. We have requests from a number of town halls, such as Soroca, Orhei, Comrat, Briceni. We are already working on a smaller electric bus," said company founder Vitalie Esanu.
Minister Victor Parlicov said that one of the priorities of his mandate is the electrification of transportation in order to integrate as much renewable energy as possible into the national grid and transition to the green economy. "Today's electricity consumption is limited to residential consumption, more electric cars means that they will consume electricity to be charged, which will allow us to install more renewable energy capacity," the minister said.
